Cathie started painting, thirty years ago, her hobby soon turned into a full time career. Cathie’s first teacher was well known Landscape Artist, Ernie Trembath. Cathie also studied Life Drawing for 4 years with Carol Boothman. Over the years, Cathie has attended many workshops to update her skills and travelled to the United States to study Portraiture with the renowned Pastellist, Daniel E. Greene.
During her career, Cathie has been awarded many First Prizes and Commendations for her works.
In 1993, Cathie created history at Sherbrooke Art Society; she won two of their major prizes at their Spring Exhibition, the Mavis Hill Award - Best Traditional Painting and the Dawn Martin Award – Best Black and White Painting. The judge, Edward Car explained, “For Cathie’s achievement, he looked firstly at the composition, perspective and the craft then the element which will stand an exhibit apart from the others, the ‘artistic risk’. Cathie not only demonstrated these disciplines, but her work illustrated a feeling which impacted on the viewer so she should be edified for this accomplishment.”
Cathie has also won Tom Roberts Award and Dawn Martin’s Black and White Award three times.
Cathie’s Paintings have been published in Pastel International Magazine and Australian Artist Magazines.
