Robin Dawson
Coming from an artistic family Robin was always encouraged to draw and paint. Her lithographer grandfather painted in watercolours and her parents first met as students at the National Gallery School of Victoria. At High School her art teacher for three years was the well- renowned artist Kenneth Jack providing inspiration and encouragement.
Robin studied painting and drawing at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology later specialising in oil painting with Max Casey and watercolour techniques with Ron Carter-Green. She has tutored in drawing and sketching, pastel and watercolour painting. Her varied mediums of oil, watercolour, pastel and drawing have each resulted in major awards and numerous commendations.
Her subject matter is also diverse.Landscapes, seascapes, portraits and figure studies, flowers in still life and garden studies, are all subjects she enjoys to portray. Robin loves to paint from nature both at home with majestic gums, forest scenes and the red earth of the outback and on her overseas travels with historic buildings and atmospheric landscapes. Her love of colour is evident in her work.
She has held many solo exhibitions in addition to participating in group shows and exhibiting in galleries.
