Sue McCall

I am passionate about all forms of art and design from Prehistoric art through to our contemporary masters. I work in a variety of media: watercolour, acrylic, oil, lino carving, screen and block printing, drawing inks, enamel sprays, pencils and pastels and cover traditional, contemporary, abstract, experimental and cross-cultural styles.

Through research and attention to detail I work with an assuredness in all these techniques. From my studies I have developed a strong love of colour, pattern, design, texture, line, tone and composition.
My aim is for each piece to be unique and to capture and hold people’s interest, without being limited by reproducing conventional themes or treatments.

Education:
1973, 1974 and 1975:  Interior Design & Decoration R.M.I.T.   (Melbourne College of Design)

1976:  Submitted Thesis on “Early Australian Architecture” and was subsequently admitted to the British Institute of Interior Design.

1987 – 1990:  Studied Water-colour techniques with Ron Carter-Green

Worked as an Interior Design and Decoration Consultant in various capacities over a period of 24 years.

2001:  Began working full-time as an Artist.

Awards: Several First and Third Prizes in a variety of Sections and Media in local shows.
2005:  March – Awarded Best “Non-Traditional Painting” at San Remo Art Show.
2005:  March – Began a permanent display of Artwork at the Ban-Q Restaurant Yarra Glen.
September 2005: 1st Prize “Best Water-colour” Sherbrooke Art Society - Spring Exhibition
October 2005: “Highly Commended” Yarra Valley Artists – Mont De Lancy
April 2006: 2nd Prize “Best Painting in Show” Strathdon Community Art Show - Forest Hill.
March 2010 Highly Commended Award –Sherbrooke Renaissance Exhibition
October 2010 ”Commended” Contemporary Watercolour Award - Sherbrooke Spring Exhibition
